Preparing birthday invitations is not such an easy task, that is if you want the invitation to be something special. Once you gather all the names of the guests that are to attend the birthday party, you can then decide how you would want your invitations to look and what you want it to express to the guests.

Depending how much money you want to spend on the invitations depends on how elaborate you could make the invitations. If money is no object, then you could go as far as having a 3-D cover of the theme of the party. Such items as this are expensive and takes quite some time to print out, or to order.

They may help you design your own invitations. Some online party stores will offer specials, or discounts for ordering from them. These stores are very good, and very prompt, however, you should always save your online receipt/printed receipt and your order or tracking number just in case they haven�t been sent out by the designated time frame.

You could put a picture of the birthday person on the outside and say something like 'You are invited to the birthday party of _____', then on the inside put the date and the time that the party is to be held, also be sure to put the location.

On the opposite side of the card, you can state the curriculum of the party, and state weather or not to bring gifts, and if you have a theme for the party, you could state weather or not the gifts should be theme oriented.

If there is room on the card, you could put what type of games will be played during the party. And if it is a pool party they would need to be advised ahead of time to come prepared for such an event.

You might also state whether or not to bring a special dish for the party, such as an asparagus casserole, or cold slaw. Maybe you would like for them to bring home-baked cookies to go along with the party, this can also be stated in the birthday invitations.

Be sure to prepare the birthday invitation list in plenty of time for them to be printed, picked up and sent out in plenty of time to allow all the guests to come prepared in advance of the party instead of having to do it at the last minute.
