Preparing For the 18th Birthday Party Ideas

Preparing for the 18th birthday party can be a challenging task to many individuals. This is mostly due to the fact that when an individual turns 18, it generally means that they are now an adult in their state of residence. Transitioning from childhood into adulthood is a monumental event that should be celebrated and made into a memorable event that will last that individual a lifetime. Here, I will share with you a few ideas that I have on making this event especially memorable for the individual that is experiencing it. While not all of these ideas may not be appropriate for every individual, it is my hope that it will get the wheels of creativity turning.

Memory Lane

Memories are a very important aspect to who each of us are. Creating a birthday party theme surrounding the memories of the individual celebrating this milestone in their life can be a very touching moment for the person turning 18. You should pull out all the old videos and pictures of the person from the time they were a young child to the current day. Yes, even the embarrassing ones! You can easily display these using a television or computer. You may even ask each guest to jot down some memorable moments on paper and read these memories aloud at the party. The person celebrating their birthday has to guess who wrote the memory. If they guess it right, the person who wrote it wins a prize! This can make for a very exciting adventure for everyone!

All Star American Idol Theme

Everyone loves American Idol! If you are trying to think of a theme that will be appropriate for the 18th birthday party, why not consider hosting your own American Idol show? Simple have each guest to draw a paper out of the hat with numbers listed on it. Once everyone has a piece of paper with numbers on it, simply choose three numbers. These will be your judges. It is often best to then have the participants to the contest to draw from another set of numbers in order to mark their spot. Rotate as appropriate so that the “judges” can participate too if they like.

When it comes to the music you can choose to have a band, a karaoke machine, or just a CD. If guests have CD’s in their vehicles, you can play these by special requests. You may even elect to include some “wardrobe” for the guests to choose from, a makeup artist, a hairstylist, a photographer, as well as someone to make a video of the birthday bash. Having an audience that can place votes on their favorites is appropriate as well. The winner could receive a gift card to a local store, or some other type of gift. The remaining top five could win a small prize as well. This can be a really flexible theme for the 18th birthday party.

The Once in a Lifetime Gift

If you are planning to have a large 18th birthday party bash for that special someone in your life, you should consider giving a “once in a lifetime gift” that they will remember and cherish for all of their life. Perhaps the individual has always wanted to go on a Cruise, or visit Disney World. Maybe they would love a day at the local spa or even some furniture for their new dormitory. The idea is to encourage all of the guests to donate a set amount or more to contribute to the gift. Guests may choose to purchase small gifts, but the “once in a lifetime gift” is the gift to be focused on. This can make for a great birthday bash and it allows everyone to contribute what they can to make someone’s dreams come true.
